Faisal Shahzad Arrested For Times Square Car Bomb
Faisal Shahzad, a 30 year old Pakistani born U.S. citizen has been arrested in connection with the Times Square auto bomb. He will soon be appearing in court. He evidently and luckily didn't know much about bomb making, because it didn't go off. He did not pass go, did not collect $ 200, and was taken to jail. With the charges he's likely to face, he's going to need some hefty installment loans to get decent lawyer.
Faisal Shahzad arrested while trying to flee
Faisal Shahzad was attempting escape when caught. At John F. Kennedy International Airport, he had boarded a plane bound for Dubai, and the plane was recalled to the runway. The vehicle that had the bomb in it was traced to the original owner, which is how he was tracked down according to the Los Angeles Times. The bomb, as outlined by authorities, appeared to be the work of two individuals.
Described as quiet, family man
Faisal Shahzad was described by his neighbors as being quiet and mostly private. He rarely went outside the house, and what he did for a job proved enigmatic. As outlined by CBS, one neighbor thought he worked on Wall Street, and an additional believed he worked in nearby Norwalk, close to his previous residence in Shelton, Connecticut. None of his neighbors saw him emerge from the house often. His house was foreclosed on last year.
The President responds
President Obama released a brief statement in which he praised the efforts of the citizens who tipped off law enforcement and also the police force officials who responded to the threat. He vowed that justice would be served, and also the event would be investigated.
Why did he do it?
The motives of Faisal Shahzad and the Times Square car bomb aren't known yet. What is clear, from the CBS reports and others reports, is that he had become a citizen. He and his wife purchased a home, and she and their kids now reside close to Peshawar, Pakistan, where he returned from several months ago. He also didn't bother registering a 1993 Pathfinder he purchased with cash. Authorities tracked down the previous owner using the VIN on the motor.
