Jennie's Comment: Black Midwives Rising Once Again

Black Midwives Exhibit Tells the History, Traditions and Legacy of African American Midwives and Their Outstanding Contributions to the Health of This Nation

The Smithsonian Anacostia Museum and Center for African American History and Culture has a current exhibit which chronicles the history of the Black midwife in America. This is not to be missed and thankfully the exhibit will be taken on the road starting in March 2006. (Next stop Gainesville, Florida). Use the links below to check the schedule and learn more. Do whatever you have to do to support this wonderful work - now is your opportunity to spread the word. Let's honor these women by never allowing their story to go untold again. A big thank you to Linda Janet Holmes, Shafia Monroe, Rhonda Haynes and everyone who contributes so significantly to this necessary work. -Jennie  www.reclaimingmidwives.org (Reclaiming Midwives Exhibit)  www.pacers.org/GladysMilton.html (Hear Gladys Milton)
